Tuition and Tuition Assistance

Can you afford to send your child to an independent school? Can you afford not to?

An outstanding education is expensive, but we know it’s worth every penny. So don’t let the cost of tuition stop you. We are seriously committed to ensuring no student who is academically qualified and mission-aligned is denied a spot simply because of financial means. We use a combination of academic scholarships and bursary support to make a Sacred Heart education affordable.

Tuition Fees

Sacred Heart is a not-for-profit independent school. Our fees are determined annually by our Board of Governors based on forecasted operating costs which include teacher salaries, building and facilities maintenance, and the upkeep of our historic campus.

All fees are in Canadian dollars.

2024-25 Tuition Fees (Domestic Students)

Junior Primary: $15,230

Elementary School (Primary to Grade 6): $19,290

Senior School (Grade 7 to Grade 12): $21,340

*Application Fee: $0

Admission Fees: New Students Primary to Grade 12

After being accepted, a one-time admission fee of $3,000 is due August 1st or prior to attending school in the case of late enrollment. This fee is applied to each child for the first two children enrolled per family. This fee is waived in Junior Primary or for more than two children per family.

Enrollment Deposit: New Students

A non-refundable, non-transferable enrollment deposit of $1,000 is payable upon completion of the enrollment contract. This amount consists of $900 which is applied against tuition, and a $100 administration fee.

Mid-Year Enrollment: New Students JP-12

Students who enroll after the school year has begun will have their tuition fees prorated based on their entry date. A full month will be charged if the student starts before and up to the 15th of the month, or a ½ month will be charged after the 15th of the month. The one-time admission fee of $3,000 applies to students in Grades Primary-12.

Family Discount

A family discount of $750 will be credited against a second child’s tuition, and a $1,000 discount for a third and subsequent child’s tuition.

Payment Plan

We have payment plans available over one, two, or ten months. A small fee is associated with a payment plan.

Tax Deductions

SHSH is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, and as such, our families may be entitled to certain tax deductions. Please contact the Business Office for more information.

Tuition fees do not cover uniforms, some field trips, and our After School/Day Camp Program, which is available to students in Grades JP-6. Learn more about those fees here.

Scholarships

New Students:

All domestic applicants for grades 7 to 12 will be considered for our Entrance Scholarships as funds are available. Entrance scholarships are based on merit, not on financial need. The amount per scholarship ranges from $500-$3,000 and is applied as a reduction of tuition fees. Candidates for entrance scholarships must complete an essay, which is included in the online application process.

Current Students:

  • Grades 6 to 7 – Janet Erksine Scholarship, two available
  • Grades 9 to 10 – Essay writing competition, two available at $3,000 and two available at $1,000

Tuition Assistance

Scholarships are merited by mission-aligned students in Grades 7-12, whereas bursary support, where most of our financial support is directed, is based on demonstrated financial need and is available to students in Grades Primary-12. Current Sacred Heart families and new families whose child is accepted and enrolled can apply for tuition assistance through our Bursary Program. Bursary Program applications can be completed through our external partner, Apple Financial Services.

“It was because of a Sacred Heart bursary that when I left Grade 6 to join Grade 7, the late Madame Michelle Wilson whispered in my ear that French was my calling and I would be great teacher. It was because of that bursary that Sacred Heart became my second home – the place where my love of learning was nurtured and my potential for success was long predicted by Miss Marilyn, “we’ve got ourselves a scholar here” she said to the little pig-tailed girl, gently taking my hand, embracing my curiosity and my family.”
